Animal Mess Prevention
We understand that Sunriver residents often secure their cans due to local wildlife activity, and we truly appreciate your efforts to keep animals out of your waste. Using approved locking lids helps protect your home and keeps our drivers safe during collection.
To ensure safe and efficient service for our drivers, please follow these container guidelines:
- Bungee cords, ropes, and rocks placed on top of cans are not acceptable. These items create safety hazards for our drivers during collection.
- Approved secure-lid options include:
- Latch-lock lids
- Plastic bungee-style locking lids designed for carts
- Twist-on lids
Winter Weather Requirements
To help ensure safe and efficient waste collection during winter conditions, please review the following guidelines:
- Keep the insdie of enclosures and the tops of containers free of snow and ice.
- Clear snow and ice from the outside of enclosures so doors can open fully.
- Remember that loose trash can freeze; please bag all waste to ensure containers can be completely emptied.
- Provide a 3 foot clear path—including removal of ice—for drivers to safely move containers to and from enclosures.
During winter weather events, route start times will be delayed until 8:00 a.m. to allow snowplows and walkways to be cleared. These delays will occur only when winter conditions create safety concerns and will return to normal once conditions improve.
If service is missed due to inclement weather, we will collect reasonable extra waste on your next service day at no additional charge.
